Having moved to Sacramento from New York, Melanie Hamilton finds the presence of wild life in downtown neighborhoods refreshing (In Sacramento, chickens crossing the road are not jokes). As a home-care nurse working with special-needs children, she’s often inspired by their courage and tenacity. Even more, she’s in awe of their families. She writes stories featuring the tools of her trade: neurology, alchemy, needlework and magic. She reads stories that challenge her to uncover the mysteries of being special: cozies, paranormals, anything that hints of magic and the otherworldly.
