John Heilman


John Heilman is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He is a professor of law at Southwestern Law School. Heilman is also a city councilmember in the City of West Hollywood. He was active in the incorporation of the City in 1984 and helped spearhead the construction of the City’s library.

In addition to his service to West Hollywood, Heilman serves on the board of directors of the Jacaranda School in Malawi, a school for children orphaned by AIDS. As part of his work with Jacaranda, he has personally funded the construction of six new school-based libraries in Malawi. Heilman also serves on the board of directors of Outright International, an organization fighting for LGBTQI+ rights throughout the world.
