Wanted: Stories about Immigrants and Refugees

( by JD Jung)

keep families together

It sickens me how my country, the United States,  not only continues to arrest Central American refugees at our borders, but also separates children from their parents. I cannot even begin to imagine the fear and horror that both the children and adults are enduring.

Supposedly, the children are no longer being grabbed and shipped across the country, but they are still not with their parents. Yes, a federal judge has ruled that these families must be united within a month, but do you think that Trump will comply? My answer is “No”, as he thinks that he is above the law. Also, many parents have already been deported back to their country of origin while the children remain here.

In order to continue to keep  refugees in our thoughts and prayers, this month we at UnderratedReads will be dedicating our “Revisited” UnderratedReads (books that we have already reviewed) to those centering on the plight of refugees worldwide.

If you can recommend an Underrated Read  focusing on immigrants and their harrowing stories that we have not already reviewed,   please email me at jdj@underratedreads.com. It may be historical or contemporary, fiction or non-fiction.

Thank you for your continued support and keep reading!
