I found it quite disturbing that what I enjoyed about this town was now gone. I havent been here in a couple of years, but during the last few times I visited I had established a comfortable routine. Run in the morning, have coffee and check my email at my favorite spot, and in the evening hang out at my favorite blues club. Everything but the run has changed.
However this forced me to discover new places and establish new routines. One such location/routine is City Lights in the North Beach. I spent hours perusing books at this vast independent bookstore/publisher. One visit and a thinner wallet wasn’t enough. After finishing a dark novel from their noir collection I just had to pick up more from the City Lights Publishing series. I will share those discoveries with you.
Yes, change is good.
