Fierce Girls is a military science fiction thriller about Kelly Cassidy. She is a retired police officer who was the senior weapons trainer at the New York Police Academy for many years. After the death of her husband, she teaches her son and three daughters to be marksmen. The story begins when a Marine named Sergeant Susan, comes upon a band of extremists led by terrorists, in the jungles of Nigeria. She then acts when she is aware of the beheading of one of their captives.
The fight with the terrorists continues as the story expands with a narrative that dominates with female characters. The story is written and geared towards an audience of teens and adults. There aren’t any sex scenes or profanity that would put some people off. The violent scenes are of a normal nature that comes along with the territory of the story.
I particularly enjoyed that the book was dedicated to female soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen. Indeed, people often discount females for what they do in this nature, and this story displayed courage and intelligence for an admirable female protagonist.
I recommend this book to science fiction readers and people who appreciate strong female lead characters.
