Justice Gone highlights an event that happens in a small town and what unfolds as a dramatic and wonderfully set story discusses matters that we are facing in the world today. In this psychological thriller, three policemen are gunned down after a homeless war veteran is beaten to death by police.
They do have a suspect in the killing. Donald, a war vet and beaten man’s friend is caught by the officers. His therapist, Tessa and blind lawyer, Nathaniel are his only hope in defending him from the fate others are so desperately deeming to pose on him. The press is against him and the justice system is nailing him down tight.
The story discusses climate change and questions the legal system. It conveys the modern issue we face such as police brutality and how a war veteran feels. The characters are very easy to bond with and the scenes are written with delicacy, addressing every moment and allowing the reader to picture the situation clearly. Tessa’s personality as a counselor for veterans is very heartfelt.
The pace of the story and literature is superbly written. I appreciated the author using a strong female character. What stood out for me from everything was the dynamic of the character interactions and how well the plot was put together.
Justice Gone is the first in the series featuring Dr. Tessa Thorpe, and I hope to read more.
