Mr. Glamour – Richard Godwin

(Reviewed by Don Jung)

Exceptional

This is a dark murder mystery based on the jet- set crowd of London. Two detectives assigned to the case have very demented and bizarre personal lives. Oddly enough, they’re after a serial killer who seeks out the rich and famous and is even more demented than they are. He kills his victims in a very disturbing style, too grotesque for me to mention here.

The writing has a lot of twists and turns as you visualize how the affluent live their lives when they’re consumed with fear as a murderer is on the loose. Godwin describes the wealthy on how they dress and act with a feel that it is both sad and comical. This elitist group has more hidden secrets and you find their glamourous lives rather wicked and a little horrifying.

What makes this psychological thriller different is how the author portrays the various characters so well. One almost has to read some of the chapters over again to catch all the clues on where the police must go next to catch the perpetrator. There are many characters that interplay with each other and they catch you off guard with their lifestyles.

What makes this an exceptional read is the way Godwin moves from one situation to another with a fast-paced narrative that has you both scared and stunned. There are more surprises that you can’t anticipate, and it keeps you on edge. It’s an adventure worth your time.
