Cleaning Up Finn – Sarah M. Chen

(Reviewed by JD Jung)

Thirty-two-year-old restaurant manager Finn Roose will be the protagonist you love to hate. He over indulges in booze and women and even takes advantage of his closest friends. Needless to say, ethics and decency are not his strong suits.

Life is about to change for Finn as his sleazy, misogynistic behavior is about to get the best of him. He may just meet his match while also becoming a person of interest in a missing persons case.

Cleaning up Finn takes us on an exciting ride with twists and turns along the way on Catalina Island and along the South Bay coast near Los Angeles. It’s packed with a lot of surprises, and we learn more about Finn and his history as well as that between he and his best friend. It’s gritty in character but not too much in the way of violence.

The supporting characters are interesting in themselves, and are fleshed out just enough for such a short book. In fact I would love to read a novel featuring one or two of them as a protagonist.

You’ll love Cleaning up Finn for a quick and enjoyable read.
